University accommodation is a big consideration. You’ll be spending a lot of time there once you start your studies, so naturally you probably have lots of questions now online applications are open.
You may be wondering how the applying process works and where in the town you would be staying if you came to Shrewsbury, well wonder no more!
If you have selected University Centre Shrewsbury as either your Firm or Insurance choice, you should soon be receiving information through the post regarding our online application process. As soon as this lands on your doorstep, you can start your application.
If you haven’t yet decided whether you would like to accept your offer from us, that’s okay because the accommodation application window is open until Monday 12th June. The accommodation isn’t allocated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis, so there’s no need to rush your decision. As long as you submit your application by that date, your application will be considered fairly.
Choosing your accommodation
We’ve made life really easy when it comes to choosing accommodation at Shrewsbury. We have two options; either a studio apartment or a single room.
The newly renovated student accommodation at Mardol House is (quite literally) in the heart of the Shrewsbury community. It offers 86 secure and modern rooms with free Wi-Fi access, launderette facilities and a 24 hour concierge service for security, as well as maintenance and welfare needs.
Enjoying a prime location and views up the bustling streets of Pride Hill, Shoplatch and Mardol, the halls are just a short walk to the lecture theatres and library at Guildhall, close to all major public transport services and just a few steps away from Shrewsbury’s many shops, restaurants and amenities.
So, if you’re excited to be starting at Shrewsbury and looking to move into Mardol House in September, these are your options:
Studio apartments comprise of an en-suite bathroom, including a wash basin, toilet and shower. You’ll have access to a kitchenette containing a fridge with freezer compartment, microwave, kettle and toaster. You will also be provided with a fully fitted wardrobe, bedside cabinet, study desk and bookcase.
Single rooms comprise of an en-suite bathroom, including a wash basin, toilet and shower. You’ll have access to a shared dining area and a fully fitted kitchen, shared with only five other residents, with a fridge, freezer, microwave, kettle and toaster. Your room will also include a fully fitted wardrobe, bedside cabinet, study desk and bookcase.
When it comes to choosing which room option you would prefer, all you need to do is let us know in your application.
Remember you have until Monday 12th June to submit your application, however if we do receive your application after this date then don’t worry, we will still process it. Just bear in mind that those received before the deadline will take priority.
Our accommodation partner, Shropshire Council, will be getting in touch as soon as possible after the A-level results day to let applicants know their room allocation. Plus, all the accommodation contracts are 41 weeks in length, which means you won’t have to vacate your room during the holidays.
