At University Centre Shrewsbury (UCS) we’re always keen for anyone interested in studying with us to take a good look around our new facilities, as well as visit the wonderful town of Shrewsbury itself.
It’s important to remember, in choosing a university and a course that you’re also choosing to spend a significant amount of time in a specific town or city too. Hopefully, by taking some time to get to know Shrewsbury, you’ll get to see the type of social experience we have on offer here.
Shrewsbury is a picturesque, medieval market town set amongst the stunning Shropshire Hills and scooped up by the River Severn. With around 660 Tudor black and white buildings, cobbled streets and hidden passageways there is a quirkiness to the town that really is unrivalled.
You might call us biased, but we do think Shrewsbury truly is a hidden gem. From Dogpole to Wyle Cop, Milk Street to Grope Lane, there is a story to be told around every street corner. There is also a great culture and leisure scene with the Old Market Hall cinema, the Museum and Art Gallery, the Market Hall and Theatre Severn, right in the heart of the town.
A favourite of any Shrewsbury student is the Quarry, a large and beautiful park where you can chill out with a book one day, then explore a bustling festival filled with music and colour the next. The Shrewsbury events calendar is truly one that is envied, simply because there is so much planned over the year - there really is something to suit everyone.
This Friday and Saturday (11th and 12th August) we have a show garden and trade stand at the Shrewsbury Flower Show, taking place in the Quarry, so please do pay us a visit to find out more about our courses and what your student experience could be like at UCS.
All this is just a flavour of what you can see and do whilst visiting the town or studying at University Centre Shrewsbury. So if you haven’t already booked yourself onto our Open Day on Saturday 21st October, or onto one of our campus tours, don’t miss your chance to visit and see the opportunities for yourself.
We hope to see you soon!
