15th July Update

You want to know what’s happening in September. This is fair enough. These are, of course, unprecedented times that we are living in but rest assured that we’ve got a plan that will ensure that your student experience is not only a safe one but also a highly valuable and memorable one. It may initially look a little different, but we’re taking as much as we can from the traditional experience and adding some new elements.

Prospective Students

Cancellation of Examinations for Offer Holders

The Government has announced that examinations due take to place in May and June are to be cancelled.

Like other UK universities, University Centre Shrewsbury and the University of Chester will be following guidelines from the Government, UCAS and awarding bodies to ensure that during these unprecedented events, students do not lose the chance to have a university education this year.

All offers of places at University Centre Shrewsbury and the University of Chester still stand and we will stay in touch with our offer holders over the coming days and weeks as more information is released to support them through what we know is a difficult time.

Can I access library resources online?

  • Online access to our extensive e-resources collections remains available via our discovery tool Library Search
  • You can also access electronic journals and databases via our Online journals Portal by keyword or subject area
  • Remember to check your elibrary tab for any module specific resources via your module space

I need help finding research material for my studies, what should I do?

What about the books I need to return?

  • Due to the extenuating circumstances during this time - when we fully re-open, all fines will be waived during this period of interruption to access our libraries.
  • We have additionally increased our auto renewals policy from 15 to 25 automatic renewals.

All Campuses

The University took the decision to bring forward the end of face-to-face teaching for all students for this term to Tuesday, March 17 at 6pm. This relates to all sites. It affects all undergraduates, taught postgraduates and all those on professional programmes.

Both teaching and professional services staff are now working from home. Campuses are secure and support for students is available through Student Futures and individual students’ Personal Academic Tutors.
