About the Event

Working in partnership with publisher Helion & Company, University Centre Shrewsbury is delighted to announce the second "Century of the Soldier Conference" for 2019, which has particular significance for Shropshire. The one day conference, "Fire and Sword Along the Marches: Fighting the English Civil War on the Welsh Marches", will study the conflict as it developed across the Marches. Papers will cover a wide range of subjects including "The Fall of Royalist Shrewsbury" presented by UCS Lecturer Dr Jonathan Worton, "Offa's Dyke and its ineffective role in the English Civil War" by Richard Israel and "The Archaeology of a Siege: A Case Study from Civil War Shropshire".

Tickets are £30, including lunch and drinks during the day.  Helion will be launching new titles on the day with special offers as well.

To register, book your place on Helion's website here: Helion & UCS present Fire and Sword Along the Marches

All are warmly welcomed.
