About the Event

This year marks the tercentenary of the Jacobite Rising of 1719. This is the least well known of several armed uprisings in the late 17th and early 18th Centuries, intended to restore the deposed and exiled royal house of Stuart to the crown of Great Britain and Ireland.

This lecture by Dr Jonathon Worton, which is linked to his new book on the subject, sheds fresh light on the causes, events and personalities of the 1719 Rising that resulted in the decisive Battle of Glenshiel, fought in the remote north-wet Highlands of Scotland in June 1719.
