How do I apply?

It’s really easy! Simply apply for your UCS degree course in the usual way through UCAS. If you are accepted onto a relevant course, we will contact you by 31st January 2019 and invite you to apply.

At that stage you will be invited to complete an application form, which will include a small number of questions about why you would make an excellent Morris Scholar.

Students will then be shortlisted and invited for an assessment day in March, with the successful applicant being informed shortly after.

How will applicants be assessed?

Representatives from Morris & Company will read the application forms and discuss each candidate’s application with University Centre Shrewsbury. They are looking for outstanding candidates who can be an inspiring ambassador for Morris & Company and UCS.

Shortlisted candidates will then be invited to meet some of the team at Morris & Company here at UCS for interviews. Don’t worry, we’ll keep it informal – it’s just the best way of learning more about you so we can make the final decision, which we know will be a difficult task!

Do I need to have confirmed my place at UCS to be eligible?

No. As long as you have been offered a place on a relevant course, we will contact you if you are eligible to apply.

Do I need to live in the UK to be eligible?

No. As long as you have been offered a place on a relevant course, we will contact you if you are eligible to apply, regardless of where you live.

Do I need to be a certain age to be eligible?

No. As long as you have been offered a place on a relevant course, we will contact you if you are eligible to apply, regardless of your age.

Can I apply for the scholarship if I am intending to study a part-time course?

No, the scholarship is only available to students accepted onto full-time courses at UCS.

What financial assistance will the successful applicant receive?

The award will cover the cost of all the tuition fees for the full three-year degree and provide a bursary of £3,000 per year towards living costs.

Do I need to apply for student finance as well?

It would make sense to apply for student finance in the usual way. You will have plenty of time to cancel any arrangements if you are chosen as the preferred candidate for the scholarship.

What qualifications do I need?

You don’t need any specific qualifications to apply for the scholarship, but you will need to have been offered a place on one of the relevant courses at UCS.

How many scholarships are there?

There is currently only one place available through this scholarship.

When will I know if I have been successful?

You will be contacted shortly after the assessment day, so sometime in late March or April.

My course isn’t listed, can I still apply?

The scholarship is only open to students accepted onto the following courses:

What information do I need for the application form?

No specialist knowledge is required! The form is just a chance for you to tell us why we should pick you for the scholarship by answering a few short questions.

Who do I contact if I have another question?
