Course:

During my time spent in Shrewsbury, I have really enjoyed meeting new friends and the lecturers here have been extremely nice and welcoming. Shrewsbury is a wonderful place to learn and grow and I am very grateful for my time here.

International student Harrison came all the way from Canada to study in Shrewsbury. Due to the support he received at UCS he has now completed his Masters degree and is looking to pursue a career in the history field.

I applied to University Centre Shrewsbury through an organization called Across the Pond, the organization assists Canadian students who want to apply and to study in the UK. Among the many Master programs that I saw, I applied to the MA in Military History at University Centre Shrewsbury. I selected the MA program at Shrewsbury because the course seemed very interesting, particularly with its focus on the specific topic of military history - which I am interested in pursuing further in my education career, possibly to do my PhD.

Overcoming Challenges

Since completing my MA in Military History, I feel very proud of myself. Since I was diagnosed with a learning disability when I was young, I had challenges at school with my learning, but I was able to excel nonetheless and always had a great deal of support in the specialized learning environment in all the schools I went to. I am hopeful since recently completing my MA to establish myself in pursuing a career in the history field.

The Staff

My lecturers and the library staff helped me during my MA program. My lecturers were very interested to listen to the information for the modules and they helped me with my assignments for the modules. Jonathan Worton and Tom Williams were of great help during my time here in Shrewsbury, especially Tom who supervised me for my Dissertation work. The library staff were extremely helpful in attaining the resources I needed for my modules and their assistance in gathering resources through the interlibrary loan system in the UK was of great importance for my Dissertation topic.

Life in Shrewsbury

I think studying at UCS campus has been a great experience studying in such a historical town in the UK. In addition, the campus being smaller and small class sizes make it a comfortable and relaxing learning environment. During my time spent in Shrewsbury, I have really enjoyed meeting new friends and the lecturers here have been extremely nice and welcoming. This has made my stay in Shrewsbury and time working on my course a very enjoyable experience and I have learned a lot. Shrewsbury is a wonderful place to learn and grow and I am very grateful for my time here.
