Our course offers the opportunity to study a range of texts from the Renaissance to the present, learn about film adaptation, and develop your own creative writing. Studying English will equip you with the knowledge needed to succeed at degree level and enable you to understand the boundaries of literature.

Core modules enable you to understand literature within the context of major historical and cultural developments and introduce you to the study of film and creative writing. As you progress, you will be offered increasing opportunities to specialize in your own areas of interest.

Guildhall

Guildhall is nestled on the banks of the River Severn, and only a short walk from the winding streets of Shrewsbury.
 
First constructed in 2004, and renovated for the arrival of University Centre Shrewsbury in 2015, the Guildhall building is used as the main centre for teaching and learning and offers fresh, modern and open spaces for students to enjoy.
 
The building boasts brand-new computer suites, lecture and seminar rooms, open-plan laboratories, a spacious library, as well as a student common room, lounge, fitness suite, courtyard, and on-site café.
