University Centre Shrewsbury is proud to present The Morris Scholarship for First Year students starting their studies in September 2019.

Funded by the Shrewsbury-based Morris & Company, the Scholarship will cover the cost of all the tuition fees for the full degree and provide a bursary of £3,000 per year towards the successful applicant’s living costs.

The award is open to students who have been accepted onto the following courses at UCS:

The student awarded the Morris Scholarship will benefit from work-based placements and mentoring at Morris & Company, which employs over 700 people in its property, care and site machinery businesses.

He or she will represent University Centre Shrewsbury and Morris & Company at certain occasions and act as a student ambassador, being a positive voice in inspiring and raising aspirations of future generations of UCS students by sharing their own experiences.

Why has Morris & Company Decided to Create this Scholarship?

Robin Morris, chairman of Morris & Company, says: “We’re excited about this scheme because we believe in encouraging and supporting young people. The town and wider community will benefit if we are able to attract and retain young talent.

“The Scholarship is also a great way help us celebrate our 150th anniversary. We’re looking forward to hearing from bright applicants who have much to offer with their personal and academic skills and who will truly benefit from this award.”

Provost of University Centre Shrewsbury, Professor Anna Sutton, says: “We are delighted Morris & Company has decided to provide this outstanding opportunity for a student to undertake three years of higher education here in the wonderful setting of Shrewsbury.

“As well as the generous financial contribution, the prospect of work placements and mentoring at such a well-established business means the successful applicant will be extremely employable when they complete their degree.

“Producing graduates who are work-ready is one of the key elements of UCS, so this scholarships fits perfectly with that ethos.”

How to Apply for The Morris Scholarship

The application process for the Morris Scholarship has now closed. All applicants for the scholarship will now have received information regarding the status of their application.
